Narcotraffic and women in internacional Colombian film: Rosario Tijeras and María llena eres de gracia
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study analyzes representations of narcotraffic and the sicariato in
Colombia from international perspectives in current cinema: Maria Full of Grace
(Joshua Marston, USA/Colombia, 2004) and Rosario Tijeras (Emilio Maillé,
Mexico/Colombia, 2005). Both films inscribe socio-cultural, economic and sexual codes in their treatment of women in Colombia and their relationship to drugtrafficking.
The article argues that the international directors offer their work to a
global consumer marketplace with messages that reaffirm national and international hierarchies of masculine reproduction.
