Abstract
The theatrical work Cineastas (2013) by Argentine director and playwright Mariano Pensotti exemplifies how the contemporary theater scene has displaced the role of the dramatic text in representation, enabling the concept of theater as a process of transmedial creation. This shift, which implies a crisis of representation, leads to a rethinking of theatricality in terms of its visual regime. This article aims to reflect on this phenomenon through an analysis of the intermedial crossover between theater and film in Pensotti's work—a crossover that does not entail a direct transfer of audiovisual media but rather a scenographic exploration of the nature of the image as a representation of reality.
