About the Journal
FOCUS AND SCOPE
ALPHA. Revista de Artes, Letras y Filosofía is an open-access academic publication edited by the Department of Humanities and Arts of the Universidad de Los Lagos. Since its founding, its aim has been to promote and strengthen dialogue and the exchange of original research articles in Literature, Linguistics, and Philosophy in Spanish.
This scope includes contributions in the arts, cultural studies, critical theory, or topics that, while not belonging exclusively to one of these areas, serve as meeting points and spaces for strengthening these fields of interest.
The journal publishes research articles in digital format on a biannual basis, which are evaluated through a double-blind peer review system, free of charge for authors.
ALPHA Journal is institutionally funded and indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, SciELO, The MLA International Bibliography, among other international databases.
PUBLICATION FREQUENCY
ALPHA. Revista de Artes, Letras y Filosofía is a biannual publication, releasing two issues per year in July and December. The call for manuscript submissions is opened between April and November each year.

Academic contributions may fall within the following textual subgenres:

- Dossier
- Review
Article
An academic publication presenting the final results of research. It outlines a topic or problem, states objectives and methodology, communicates main results, analyzes them, and concludes in alignment with initial objectives. References cited must be included.
Critical essays are also accepted, provided they present well-supported arguments and include proper bibliographic references. These works must not exceed 20 pages, including references and appendices.
Note
An academic publication presenting partial results of ongoing research. It follows the structure of an article but must not exceed 10 pages. Bibliographic reviews are also accepted.
Document
Includes transcriptions of historical documents, bibliographic reviews, or conceptual reflections that may serve as starting points for further research. Maximum length: 20 pages.
Dossier
Occasionally the journal includes a special section dedicated to a specific topic with invited expert editors. Dossiers may be formed through editorial invitation, research group proposals, or thematic convergence. All included articles must meet the same standards and undergo peer review.
Review
A concise summary of a book, including critical evaluation. Maximum length: 5 pages.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
ALPHA provides immediate open access to its content, free of charge to readers or institutions, with no registration requirements throughout its collection. Our editorial policy is based on the principle that free access to research promotes knowledge exchange and the development of scientific collaboration networks.
The publication is free of publication fees (no APCs) and charges no fees to authors.
