Peer Review Process

Arbitration Process

  1. The Editorial Board will evaluate the formal aspects and thematic relevance of each manuscript and may reject it without submitting it for external review. Manuscripts (Articles, Notes, Documents, Dossiers) must be unpublished and appropriate for a humanities journal: literature, linguistics, philosophy; or topics that, while not belonging exclusively to any of these fields of knowledge, constitute intersection points. The Editorial Board determines the article admissibility, and its decision is final.
  2. After the first revision, articles undergo a double-blind peer-arbitration process. To ensure originality and scientific quality, articles are evaluated by specialists in the various disciplines and in the specific topics covered by the manuscript. External evaluators will issue a report and, if necessary, recommendations for improving the manuscripts. The Editorial Board of Revista ALPHA will maintain the anonymity of both the author and the external evaluators. In accordance with current standards for scientific publications, Revista ALPHA will publish the names of the external manuscript evaluators annually, subject to prior authorization.
  3. The peer arbitration process involves at least two evaluations. Based on the comments arising from this revision the Editorial Board decides whether to accept the manuscript without comments, accept it with comments, or definitively reject it. The decision is formally communicated to the author, and the rationale for the decision may be included. Providing recommendations or suggestions for revisions to rejected manuscripts is considered good practice, but ALPHA Journal is under no obligation to do so. In the event of discrepancies in the evaluation of a manuscript, the Editorial Board will determine the final outcome.
  4. In cases where an article is "accepted with comments," the author has 45 days to resubmit the revised manuscript for further evaluation. After this period, it will be assumed that the author has decided not to continue with the process.
  5. All authors of articles accepted for publication will receive a confirmation stating the issue in which their work will be included.
  6. Each published article will include the dates of its receipt and acceptance.
  7. The average time between receipt and publication of accepted articles is 40 weeks.
