Ethical Guidelines

ALPHA: Journal of Arts, Literature, and Philosophy adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For more information, please visit: https://publicationethics.org.

Accordingly, these sources form part of the ethical standards of ALPHA.

Without prejudice to these, the following specific ethical guidelines are established below:

Originality and Plagiarism

ALPHA: Journal of Arts, Literature, and Philosophy publishes only original articles; therefore, authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original. If portions of other authors' works and/or their words have been used, they must be properly cited or referenced.

Regarding the use of AI tools, ALPHA Journal has determined that their use is not permitted. In the event that any AI tools were used as part of your study, you must include the following statement:

While preparing this research and the article submitted to ALPHA Journal, the author used [NAME OF AI TOOL/SERVICE] for the purpose of [REASON FOR USING AI]. After using this tool/service, the author thoroughly reviewed and edited the content and assumes full responsibility for the published content.

It is the policy of ALPHA Journal to review manuscripts to identify any matches or similarities among the texts submitted for evaluation. For this purpose, the Similarity Check similarity detection system will be used to protect the originality of the published content.

By depositing all of our content in the Similarity Check database, we enable other publishers to compare their submitted texts with those previously published by ALPHA: Journal of Arts, Literature, and Philosophy. A similarity percentage exceeding 20% with other previously published texts is grounds for rejection of a manuscript.

Conflicts of Interest

Manuscripts submitted to ALPHA. Journal of Arts, Literature, and Philosophy must explicitly disclose any relationship that could be considered a potential conflict of interest; this will allow us to objectively evaluate the merits of each paper.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author or co-author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in their own manuscript that has already been published, they are obligated to notify the journal's editorial board and provide all necessary information to retract or correct the article.

Measures in the Event of Improper Conduct

If improper conduct or ethical violations are detected in a published article and the authors refuse to provide a satisfactory resolution, the manuscript will be retracted from the journal, and the situation will be reported to the Scientific Ethics Committee of the authors' institution(s).

Ethics, Consent, and Informed Consent Committee

For research involving participants, authors must include all relevant information in the methodology section, where they must state that the research has been approved by the Scientific Ethics Committee of their institution.

It should also be noted that the research was conducted with the consent and/or informed assent of the participants and/or their legal representatives, and that the rights of those who participated in the study were respected throughout the research process.

In accordance with international standards for the protection of children's rights, photographs, videos, or audio recordings involving children will not be accepted unless the authors demonstrate that they are essential to understanding the research and have obtained the necessary authorizations. Images, videos, and audio recordings must be edited to ensure and protect the privacy of the individuals appearing in them.

Authorship Criteria

In accordance with the standards and guidelines established by the Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE), an author is defined as someone who has actively participated in the research and in the drafting of the manuscript. The first author is the person who made the most significant contribution. Those who have made a relevant contribution to the research—such as providing data or editing the article's academic style, among other things—may be acknowledged in the "Acknowledgments" section of the article, which must appear at the end of the manuscript and before the References.

Complaints Procedure

To file a complaint with ALPHA. Journal of Arts, Literature, and Philosophy, please write directly to the Editorial Office at revistaalpha@ulagos.cl

Once the relevant information has been submitted, the case will be reviewed by the Editorial Board, whose final decision—which is not subject to appeal—will be communicated via email.

The Editorial Office and the Editorial Board of ALPHA. Journal of Arts, Literature, and Philosophy are the sole authorities responsible for the management and decision-making regarding the publication.
