Abstract

This article is an interpretation of El escupitajo en la escudilla by the chilean poet Enrique Lihn, in the context of the crisis of modern paradigm in the chilean contemporary poetry. It shows how in this text the author proposes an ironical and marginal vision of poetical creation from the experience of the failure of language to designate another thing but itself and the dissolution of totalizing categories elaborated by the literary poetics of modernity.
