The following essay evaluates the chronicles of the first American trip by journalist and writer, Miguel Delibes, with the aim of analyzing the perception of otherness, vis a vis the strange, of one who plans to make a diagnosis of the continent by a brief transatlantic visit. As an “indian chronicler” the traveler configures different stereotypical prototypes of the Southern Cone of America, all while he projects both an environmental conservationist as well as a humanist discourse.
