Based on the analysis of a set of home movies from German immigrant families that were donated to the Cineteca Nacional de Chile, this article argues that the predominance of childhood as a privileged perspective and content of the images is understood from the idea of childhood. as the best time frame to configure a migratory and memory narrative. In this way, it seeks –with the support of frames– to account for how family films build a successful migratory project with a future, leaving aside or ignoring the conflicts inherent in any migratory process.
