Rabinal Achí: Society and Power
Abstract
Considered by most critics as the only pre-Columbian drama that survived the Spanish conquest, the Rabinal Achí was created in the 15th century by the Quiché, a branch of the Maya who inhabited the region now known as the Republic of Guatemala. This work is not only a great testimony to what remains of pre-Columbian creation, but also demonstrates the high degree of expressive perfection and sense of argumentation possessed by the Quiché people.
