Abstract

This article applies a literary semeiotic analysis to twelve selected “cuecas” —Chilean traditional songs—, (scripts in the appendix), currently performed in Chiloé. These “cuecas”, called here “poetic-musical voices”, belong to authors and singers from two different periods. Following J. J. Brünner‟s studies about Postmodernism, we compare the lyrics of five traditional “cuecas”, selected from the oral tradition and identified from a period before 1980, to seven pieces of well-known authors, published after 1987.
