Abstract

This study tests modern theoretical concepts regarding the poetic subject in selected texts from the Argentinean Post-vanguard. In order to do so, this article explores the most important philosophical theories dealing with the concepts of subjectivity —especially the Nietzschean school of thought that confronts the Cartesian concept of the ego—, converging in the well known idea “The death of theauthor” proclaimed by Post-structuralism. Secondly, this work discusses the limitation of this theoretical approach, to include the concept of the vital experience when studying the poetical subject in this chosen framework. Therefore, we propose to enrich traditional theoretical perspectives taking into account the contributions of the enunciation theory. Finally, we demonstrate through textual analysis of Joaquín Giannuzzi and Alfredo Veiravé, the necessity of broadening the definition of the poetic subject.
