Abstract
Margarita Aguirre, friend and secretary of Pablo Neruda, rekindles her name with the reissue this year, 1997, of her painstaking book “Genio y figura de Pablo Neruda” under the imprint of the University of Buenos Aires editorial (EUDEBA). For this reason, our purpose is to recall, through the analysis of one of her novels, the fundamental role she played in Chilean women’s narrative that emerged within the framework of the so-called 1950’s generation, which to this day remains the most immediate and valuable precursor to the current women’s literature practiced in the country and in Hispanoamerica.
