Abstract

Human duality has been examined from a variety of perspectives, but the originality of the present paper resides in the view obtained from an analysis based on Jung‘s theory of archetypes. This paper will explore the Shadow archetype as the key component to understanding the main aspects of Stevenson‘s novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, as well as the framework of duality in humankind.
